The following items will be taken into consideration:

  • Booth Build –
    • Are you recycling items? Are any build items re-purposable? Are you reducing build size year over year?
    • Are you removing 100% of your display property and flooring? Often times elements are left behind or discarded at the end of the show.
    • Is your booth using LED lighting or other energy efficient power?
    • Have you considered renting a booth property?
    • Are you using local suppliers?
    • If you are building an exhibit, we recommend only using Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) wood.
    • We recommend going with bare flooring
  • Shipping –
    • Are you reducing or consolidating shipping to and from the event?
  • Employee Travel –
    • Are you choosing the most sustainable option for travel?
  • Promotional Items & Handouts –
    • Are you reducing paper handouts?
    • When purchasing promotional items, we recommend that you consider the amount you order, the environmental credentials of the materials they are made from, as well as whether they are useful giveaways that will be used long after the event is over.
  • Assessment On-site

What Exhibitors Can Do

Reduce signage waste by:

  • Encouraging less printing and providing more information digitally when it comes to booth literature and fulfilling requests via email and website referrals
  • Creating reusable non-dated signs that can be used year after year
  • Avoiding foam core signs and requesting recyclable material such as cardboard signage

Reduce booth waste by:

  • Requesting sustainable options from Freeman or your EAC
  • BYOF!- Avoiding carpet and bringing your own flooring, like puzzle foam flooring that can be reused at all your shows
  • Breaking down ALL cardboard boxes and putting them in the correct recycling bin
  • Requesting additional booth bins for recycling and compost collection
  • Using only compostable or recyclable service ware for samples and giveaways
  • Using the stickers provided at the Exhibitor Services Desk to mark your materials for recycling or donation
  • Setting a goal to leave no trace behind by shipping out all of your booth properties and packing materials and donating extra giveaways
